PRINCE2® is a project management methodology based on experience drawn from thousands of projects. It focuses on the governance structures and processes required to ensure that a project stays on track and in control.

Originally developed for the British government for controlling public projects, PRINCE2® is now used by thousands of organizations of all types all around the world. More PRINCE2® certifications have been issued world-wide than for the two other major internationally-recognised Project Management Certifications (IPMA and PMP) together.

There are three levels of certification:

Foundation – aimed at members of a project management team, certifies that the holder can act knowledgeably within the context of a PRINCE2® project environment;

Practitioner – aimed at project leadership, certifies that the holder knows how to apply and tailor the PRINCE2® method to a particular project;

Professional – aimed at experienced PRINCE2® Practitioners, certifies that the holder can demonstrate their practical ability to manage a PRINCE2® project.  The PRINCE2® Professional Certification Scheme was retired in 2017, but existing certificates are still valid.

We see PRINCE2® as a very pragmatic tool which provides organizations and individuals with a clear, coherent, comprehensive and efficient framework for controlling projects.

The PRINCE2® methodology is owned by AXELOS Ltd, a joint venture between the Office of Government Commerce (a branch of the British Government) and Capita plc.  CHIM delivers PRINCE2® Certification courses in collaboration with Approved Training Organizations and their Affiliates using certified trainers, in order to ensure the validity and quality of the training and certification.
